Cruz My suggestion is that, in the WordPress native lightbox function, there should be the possibility of zooming in on the image on mobile. The native lightbox makes life much easier, but when used on mobile, images with smaller information are difficult to read.

Is there any way to change this so that the user can zoom in on the image?

I think it would be good if you could place these in the Core Trac so that developers can evaluate them directly and even edit them if necessary. Maybe even a part of it is already in the works. Just create a ticket here: https://core.trac.wordpress.org/

Nahidul Islam Hello WordPress team,

I appreciate the continuous improvements to the WordPress platform. I’d like to suggest an enhancement to the Media Library’s search functionality.

Current Challenge:
As of now, the Media Library search primarily indexes the Title and Filename of media items. This limitation poses challenges for users who:

  • Rely on Alt Text, Captions, or Descriptions to organize and identify media.
  • Manage large media libraries where filenames may not be descriptive.
  • Aim to maintain accessibility standards by properly utilizing alt text.

Proposed Solution:
Expand the Media Library search capabilities to include:

  1. Alt Text: Facilitates locating images based on accessibility descriptions.
  2. Captions: Helps in identifying images through their displayed captions.
  3. Descriptions: Allows users to search through detailed information about media items.

Benefits:

  • Improved Accessibility: Encourages the use of alt text by making it a searchable field.
  • Enhanced User Experience: Simplifies the process of finding specific media items.
  • Efficient Content Management: Assists users in managing and organizing large media libraries effectively.

I believe this enhancement would significantly benefit content creators, developers, and site administrators by streamlining media management and promoting best practices in accessibility.

Thank you for considering this suggestion.

I don’t think so.

My feedback is related solely to the website (presentation of available plugins) here, not the WordPress core, and this forum is for:

One of the most important (and nicest) features when deciding for a product are images (and a nice image gallery). No matter if you’re looking for a WordPress plugin, a flat, a product on Amazon, etc.

The problem:

The image gallery of WordPress plugins is not only placed to far down (there’s a reason why image galleries on Amazon are right at the top!), but also very old-fashioned to use.

If you click on the first image of a plugin gallery to see it in a larger format, the first image file (!) opens (that’s really 90s…). So you after you’ve seen it, you need to use the back button of your browser (!), make sure to hit the small next arrow to get to the next image, enlarge this again, go back via browser, repeat.

The solution:

  1. Apply state of the art image gallery functions (e.g. by simply installing a modern image gallery WordPress plugin…)
    • What this should bring along:
      • If you click on the first image (or on a next image thumbnail), this image should open in fullscreen
      • There should be easy to see and use next and before buttons to the left and to the right
      • There should be a button to close the fullscreen gallery again (thinking of mobile users, maybe at the bottom right)
      • Everything should be working nicely also on mobiles (as most users are using their phones nowadays)
  2. Move the plugin gallery near the top of the page, for example below the plugin’s first short description (or even below or above the plugin title). Images are usually the first and best indicator to check the quality and usefulness of a plugin (besides reviews and number of installations, which luckily are already near the top).

Hoping for your consideration of these suggestions!
